THE BEAUTY OF ISLAM

Beauty is the contribution of qualities that give pleasure to the senses or to moral sense of intellect. Hence beauty of Islam will logically mean the qualities and teachings of Islam. Which make it spiritually, intellectually and socially acceptable. Pleasing and satisfying to human conditions in terms of peaceful relationship with the creator and creatures.

WHAT IS ISLAM?

Technically, Islam is the total submission and obedience to the will and law of GOD for the attainment of peace in man’s life. The word Islam originates from SALAM (i.e PEACE). One of GOD’S names is ASSALAM meaning THE GOD OF PEACE, (Q59 v 23). Those who worship Him are called Muslims (Q2 128). Their greeting when they meet is peace (Q4 v 86). The concluding words of their prayer are words of peace. Their approach to every matter is peace (Q25 63). The paradise which will be their final abode is a home of peace (Q6 v 127). Thereby the only way to attain real and everlasting peace in ones journey is through Islam. Nevertheless Islam never took advantage of its peaceful qualities to force people to accept the beautiful religion of GOD, thus “There is no compulsion in the religion surely right is distinct from the wrong, whosoever disbelieves in false deities and believes in Allah has grasped a strong hand hold which breaks not (Q2 V 256)”.

ISLAM AND THE NATURE

Islam is the religion of nature that follows the universal law of nature, which is praise and glorification of ALMIGHTY GOD, and for which every creation is created (Q17 v 44). It frees itself from impurities such as idolatry and polytheism artificially produced by man. It resists itself from the evil changes of time such as corruption, oppression and hypocrisy. Islam presents a beautiful and natural ideology, moral standard and worship. It puts everything in the universe in its pure nature in relation to other creatures and GOD. Thus, it is the code of the life revealed to serve as the correct formation for man’s character and behavior and a mode of life necessary for building a sound and progressive society characterized by justice and peace which is in harmony with ALLAH’s will. In that connection ALLAH says “set your faith. ALLAH’s nature on which He has created mankind, there is no change in the nature, that is the standard religion but most men know not (Q30 v 30)”.

ISLAM AND MAN:

Beauty of Islam shines brightly on man by bringing him out of the darkness of polytheism into the light of monotheism. It absolves man from hereditary /original sin, as man is born in a state of natural purity of true faith and monotheism (Q30 u 30). It disclosed to man that Satan has no power over him as long as he remain a submissive servant of Almighty Allah (Q15 v 39-42) and that sin in man’s life is acquired not inborn, and avoidable, not inevitable. (Q6 v 116: 43 v 36). Islam regards every pious man as the

viceregent of God and links him directly to his Lord without any intermediary (Q40 v 60), it gives no preference to men over women but according to individual piety (Q33 v 35. Q49 v 13). It made it clear that man has been granted honor above all other creatures (Q17 v 70) while it remind man his purpose of creation which is to worship ALLAH (Q51 v 56). And that man will inevitably be rewarded or punished, for his deed (Q53 v 51).

ISLAM AND GOD:

Islam reveals the true knowledge about the oneness of lordship of ALLAH. It gives GOD His due which can not be found or marched by any other religion. It maintains that true worship and prayer is due to Him only (Ql3 vs 14) Islam is second to none in establishing a reasonable unconfused net of unsharable attributes of GOD, neither does it name nor qualify God with what He is not. ALLAH is the name without equivalence. He is the true GOD. Lord and King of mankind. (Q114 vs 1-2). He is absolute, share no human qualities or imperfection such as weakness, sleeping, mistake, hunger or forgetfulness. He is immortal and without partner beget not nor was He begotten (Q112 v 1-4). The most beautiful names about ninety-nine (99) are given to GOD in Islam! (Q2 v 225) (Q59 vs 22-24).

RELIGION OF ALL PROPHETS:

Beautifully enough, all the prophets of ALLAH reported by the divine books were Muslims; they came to salvage mankind through Islam. They preached Islam by proclaiming oneness of GOD and complete obedience to Him, none of them ever proclaimed to people that he (prophet) was Lord or GOD and never asked people to worship him but the GOD who sent him (Q20 v 25). To this effect, Allah says ‘’He has prescribed for you (men) the religion which He enjoined on Noah and which we revealed to thee (MOHAMMAD) and which we enjoined on Abraham and Moses and Jesus saying remain steadfast in obedience to ALLAH and be not divided therein (Q42 vs13). Thus in Islam there is neither distinction nor discrimination between any of the prophet and the message they brought (Q2 vs 135-137), an assurance for the true Muslim of today that they are on the right path trod by their predecessor prophets and that there is no salvation outside Islam (Q3 v 83-85).

UNI VERSAL WORSHIP OF ISLAM:

Worship in Islam is beautifully made up of faith and duties which is entirely devoid of all show and ceremony and it is completely for God (Q21 92). Apart from the five pillars, worship in Islam includes, other good work or sacrifice done with the fear of ALLAH (Q6 v 163). Also worship in Islam is monotheistic and it is the ground covenant and testimony made by every one before ALLAH prior to our earthly existence (Q7 172). There is perfection in the mode of worship at the same time of a day (prayer) or annually (Ramadan fast and Hajj). They believe in the same one GOD (ALLAH). Observe the same number of salat, face the same direction in prayer (Qibla), use the same language (Arabic) to worship, read the same standard, unrevised divine book (Al-Quran) and maintain the same postures in all their worship. This true worship in Islam is practical and deferred from different prayer that is said ordinarily.

SALAT A BEAUTY OF ISLAM:

Salat is the beautiful ritual prayer forfeited by other religion without which there’s nothing we can worship (Q98 vs 5). It is a form of intellectual meditation, spiritual devotion, and moral elevation as well as physical exercise. In it, you see men showing the natural patterns of submission of all creation in life (Q22 vs18) as well as demonstrating its universality in term of culture value of showing respect by every race the men take position such as standing erect like a tree, bending like he quadrupeds, rising from bowing like the birds and flight, prostrating like he reptiles and sitting like inanimate object (Q22 vs 77). Prayer can be observed wherever Muslims happens to be when its time arrives. “It fosters the good and decent elements in true Muslim and suppresses the evil and indecent inclinations” (Q29 vs 45). Failure to perform prayer is failure to enter paradise (Q68 v 42-44).

HAJJ IN ISLAM:

Hajj is (a pilgrimage to Mecca) a unique practice in Islam. It allows Muslims to see and acquaint themselves with the spiritual and historical environment of Prophet MUHAMMAD (SAW), and to observe the first house of GOD on earth (i.e Kaaba) built by Abraham (A.S) (Q3 vs 96-97). The beauty of Hajj is incomparable being the largest annual convention of faith as well as the greatest regular peace conference known in the history of mankind. These Muslims from all walks of life and from every corner of the globe assemble at Mecca to praise ALLAH in response to His call (Q22 v 26-37). They dress in the same simple way, observe the same regulation and utter the same supplication at the same time, in the same way and for the same end; and worship ALLAH. It really demonstrates the brotherhood and universality of Islam as well as equality of mankind.

FASTING IN ISLAM:

Islamic fast is convenient and practicable for mankind. It is naturally planned by ALLAH bringing man closer to Him (Q2 v 83-187), commands life-long moral discipline, spiritual development and avoidance of evil (Q16 v 90). The beauty of Islam scintillates during Ramadan as the pure or angelic nature of man and the probability of implementing GOD’s kingdom on earth is confirmed. In it, some come to reason, seek forgiveness and grasp/adopt righteous ways of living for the rest of their life. Indeed the (Layla -tul Quadri) Night of Decree is an additional beauty and blessing which owes immeasurable benefits for those who observe it (Q97 vs 1-5)

CLEANLINESS IN ISLAM:

Islam gives the highest regard to hygiene and cleanliness: It is uncontestable fact that Islam is the owner of highest cleanliness order. Islam naturally both the inner and outer aspects of man, it commands purity of intention, cleanliness in physical outlook and what you lake-in, it is an Islamic injunction that before the five daily prayers. Muslims perform an ablution or a ritual bath as the case may be (Q4 vs 43) Islam declares that all things which are pure in themselves are lawful for diet while impure ones are harmful as diet (Q7 vs157), it forbids food and drinks with destructive ability on man’s health and moral behavior, such include intoxicants, swine, dead animals etc. (Q2 v l73 Q5 47). Observing these and performing the five daily prayers in pure heart and mind, in clean body and clothes, on pure ground and intention constantly have vital and beneficial effect “Cleanliness they say is next to Godliness’’. And it is only Islam that observes it in true sense (Q5 vs 6).

ISLAM AND THE SCIENCE:

Islam and its book command all Muslims to search for knowledge. Being a natural religion and absolutely truthful, it has been withstanding challenges and supporting discoveries in scientific research. For example recent WHO/UNICEF recommendation on breast feeding has been in Q2 vs 233 for centuries before the pronouncement. Scientific facts and clues on natural phenomena are revealed in it. These include the principle of two genders in all beings (Q36 v 36). the state of the celestial body before separating into planets (Q21 v 30) process of formation of rainfall (Q24 v 43) description of evolution of the embryo inside uterus (Q23 v 12-14), curative effect of honey-bees (Q16 v 68-69) etc. Islam thereafter invites to cultivation science.

QUR’AN THE PERFECT BOOK:

Qur'an is the divine manual to operate man’s life brought down by the holy spirit (Gabriel) from Almighty Allah (Q16 v 102). The beauty of Islam glitters because of the authenticity and the unchangeable and perfect nature of the Qur’an. The book is unique in its revelation, compilation, recitation, teachings, applications, and the practicability of its doctrines. When compared with other holy books, the Qur'an remains incorruptible and has never been edited over 1430 years of its revelation (Q 15 v 9), yet it advances with time and offers convincing proof for every generation (Ql7 vs 9). It lacks nothing untreated in man’s life (Q6 V 38), it corrects other so called divine revelation (Q 15 v 9), are can not be forged by a creature (Ql7 v 88). It brings man out of every darkness into perfect light (Ql4 v 1). Without the Qur’an, the spiritual purpose and honorable post for which mankind has been created for would have been frustrated (Q2 1 v 10).

CERTIFIED AND FAVOURED:

ALLAH says “And if you would count the beautiful favor of ALLAH (in Islam), never could you be able to count them… (Ql6 v 18). Beauties such as Zakat for the welfare of the poor (Q9 v 60):

Marriage life on piety instead of celibacy with sex abuse (Q57 v 27), (Q24 v 32): polygamy in lieu of concubines (Ql4 v 3) political life (Islamic state) base on sound spiritual and moral norms guided by Divine instruction (Q5 v 47-50: Q17 v 9) Islam sets way for the attainment of moral perfections, its social principles are sound, unique, adaptive and reasonable and human nature is well considered to suit the natural instinct respect and welfare of mankind (Q17 v 22-39) ALLAH has issued the certificate of excellence to Islam . Today have I (ALLAH) completed my favor upon you (Muslims) and perfected your religion and chosen for you Islam as only religion ... (Q5 v 3). Furthermore, He says “Islam is the only way leading straight to Allah” (Q6 v 126) and ultimately (Q61 v 9) purports Allah sent His messenger with the guidance and religion of truth (Islam) that He may cause it to prevail over all other religion even if polytheists hate it, Now time to celebrate from ALLAH He says “All these (beauties) through the grace of ALLAH and through his mercy, therein, therefore let them rejoice (Q10 vs 58).

INVITATION:

Where else can you find such beauty? ‘’Then where are you going? Asked ALLAH in (Q81 vs 26). Then if you can’t beat them you must join them at least in a beautiful religion: like this, Islam! To its fold, Islam invites you, to the TRUE FAITH (Q112) and THE REAL DUTIES (Q2 vs 117) Turn back in repentance to ALLAH and fear Him, establish regular prayers and do not join gods with ALLAH, those who split up their religion and become sect,” (Q30 vs 31-32). Become a true Muslim it is better for you; surely artificial beautification will wither away and have no place in the hereafter (Q25 vs 23). ALLAH has affirmed that there is no salvation outside Islam. (Q3 vs 85).

THEREFORE.YOU ARE INVITED TO THE BEAUTIFUL RELIGION 0F ISLAM AND WARMLY ENJOINED TO ENJOY OBSERVING ALL THE BEAUTIFUL COMMANDS OF ALLAH (Q2 v 208).
